Arrangements for the Junior Concert

Details of arrangements for the Junior Concert will be circulated by pupil post this afternoon. It can also be accessed from our Moodle site at

This year we will be using Mount Zion chapel as the venue for our two Junior concerts. We are very grateful to the Elders and Pastor for allowing us to use the chapel and it will be fitting that the pupils will perform the Nativity Cantata – Away in a manger by Roger Jones. The dates and times of the performances are listed below. We are able to accommodate up to 230 people in the audience for each performance. The majority of the seats will be upstairs with the children singing from the pulpit and front pews. We will have limited seating available for those with mobility problems who may find climbing the stair to the gallery difficult. You will be allocated TWO tickets for each concert. Tickets will be available from the school secretary from Monday 10th December onwards. Any unsold tickets will be made available for general release from Friday morning. Tickets are priced at £2.00 each we will include a donation to the Chapel for the use of the facility and for heating the building,
Mrs Johnson has asked all pupils to wear white shirts and trousers for the performance. Our intention is to create “a heavn’ly choir of angels” around the pulpit area. As you know we don’t ask parents to buy specific clothing for any school event and should you experience difficulty in obtaining white trousers then a pair of cream, light brown or grey trousers will do.
Babies, toddlers prams and pushchairs.
We will be unable to accommodate any babies or toddlers as there will be no room to them to sit on laps during the concert or for any prams, pushchairs and buggies. I do realsi that this may be inconvenient for some but every year I have a number of comments that babies and toddlers who become unsettled during the performance causes disruption. I would appreciate your co-oporation in this matter.
Pupils are expected to attend BOTH concerts and should be in the Chapel by 5.40 p.m. for the evening performance at the latest. Pupils will be expected to be collected from the Chapel unless you give prior consent for them to walk home.
Please complete the booking form and send to school with the correct money. Your tickets will be returned by your child at the end of each day

We also got ourselves on to the television as well. The pupils were wonderfully behaved and were a credit us. Thanks to the staff and parent volunteers for accompanying us. Shame about the result and the performance of the team.

Today we have been getting excited about the BIG GAME in Cradiff tommorrow. We asked everyone who wanted to WEAR RED TO WORK FOR WALES in support of the Rugby team who will be playing France in the Millennium Stadium tomorrow afternoon. If they beat the French team they will not only win the Six Nations Championship but complete a Grand Slam

Mr. Jones, the head teacher, also decided to join in as he always wears a suit when he goes to meetings and has special visitors, but also like to wear our school uniform to show us how much it means to us.
Those of us who are not so lucky to have a ticket for the match will be able to cheer our team as we watch the game on the television. Dewch mlaen Cymru .... Come on Wales.

Drayton Manor Park Summer Trip

Due to the success and positive feedback received from parents last year we have decided to run another whole school summer trip to Drayton Manor / Thomas Land.
We have provisionally booked four 70 seater luxury coaches for Friday 22nd June 2012. Parental feedback from last year's trip requested this.
The cost of the trip is estimated to be no more than £20 per child and £25 per adult. This price will be revised when we know exact numbers.
Primarily the trip will be open to all pupils in the school. Infant children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults can also accompany children from Year 3 if they wish. All junior children will be supervised in small groups by a member of staff. Babies or younger children from the ages of 0-2years will have free entry to the park but will be required to pay for the bus.
Similar to last year if there are places still available then these will be offered at a' first come first served' basis to family and friends of all pupils.
If you would like to secure your place please could you fill in the form sent home by pupil post and return with a non refundable £5 deposit for each person by Friday 2nd March. We will then require further payments to be paid by certain dates when the prices have been confirmed.

Pupils achieve targets and put their goals in the back of the net

Great news! Four pupils from Dosbarth 5 have reached their goal and are placeing their target on a football which is now being placed in the Gelli Goal. Alfie, Lowri, Katie and Ieuan have all achieved an improvement in handwriting, Mr Jones, the head teacher, gave them a special white house point for this achievement. Da iawn blant. Well done.
